Read the annual news bulletin: Frozen Ground 47

Frozen Ground 47 (2023) is now available!

Frozen Ground 47 includes over 40 pages of updates on international permafrost activities. The bulletin includes a statement from IPA President, Chris Burn, annual updates on conferences (e.g., 6th European Conference on Permafrost (EUCOP6) in Puigcerdà), Action Groups, Standing Committees, Projects, Associated Organizations, and the Industry. We are proud to support two NEW Action Groups! The newsletter includes a special 16 page insert from NSERC PermafrostNet which highlights several student projects. We commemorate the passing of Samuel I. Outcalt (b. 1936), Robert “Bob” Lewellen (b.1936), Thomas G. Krzewinski (b. 1949), and Ronald “Ronnie” P. Daanen (b. 1972). The winners of the 3rd IPA Photo Contest (Permafrost in Colour) are also announced therein. Thank you to all the entrants for sharing your memories and research activities with the international permafrost community! All the contest entries can be viewed on our Awards page.

Thank you to all those who contributed to the newsletter and to our members for their continued support.

We encourage any permafrost research/industry group interested in contributing to next year’s newsletter to contact the IPA Secretariat (secretariat@permafrost.org). Let us share and highlight your important work with the international permafrost community!

If you are curious about IPA activities in previous years, all Frozen Ground volumes are available on our Publications page.
